Pastel and Coloured Pencil Artist

Kendyll Carle

“I have consistently done portraiture over the years, focusing on pet portraiture in recent years. I find this work very fulfilling and rewarding, creating a unique art work for someone which captures the essence of a loved one, be that a person or a pet. I am inspired by my experience of connection in nature and create work which reflects this through bird and botanical drawings and landscapes. Aspiring always to capture the awe I feel when immersed in mother nature.”

Kendyll was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1973. She studied BA Fine Arts at Stellenbosch University.  Thereafter she moved to Johannesburg and then to Gaborone, Botswana, where she lived for 12 years before returning to Cape Town in 2015.

She has developed her pastel and coloured pencil techniques and now produces highly detailed realistic works, inspired by the rich plant and animal life that surrounds us.

Coloured pencil is a medium that requires multiple layers, with the end result being full of depth and texture. This medium allows the artist to have amazing control and this is reflected in the realistic details that are so pleasing to the eye.

Kendyll has a passion for nature, and immerses herself in the spectacular natural beauty of the Cape. She has embraced her first love which is drawing, and now skillfully captures her subjects of fynbos flora and fauna in a style that is easily recognised.
